Information according to Mr. Lauri Õunapuu, chairman of the board of the Estonian Folklore Council (Eesti Folkloorinõukogu juhatuse): "Atro Tõnu" was from Kuusalu, Kiiu-Aabla village. He was the son of a tenant of Toomari farmstead. In 1883 he moved to the Caucasus, to the Estonian village Salme. After a few years he came back and settled in the village of Virve (sometimes he was also called Virve Tõnu). It was common in Estonia to call people by their father, husband, farm, village, etc. All of these name variants are correct. Then [he] lived in a farm in Virve village, in Mäe farmstead, the people there called the farm by its old name - "Atru" (in the current language probably "adru" - a type of seaweed). In the written language it was written "Atro". He was also called "Arli Tõnu", but his family name was Eslon. From the famous Eslon family"; NB: ➺ Tõnu Eslon.
